Problems paying your mortgage
Get help if you're having problems paying your mortgage. Our free and confidential advice service can explain your options. While it's never too late to get advice, the sooner you contact us, the more we can usually do to help.
Trouble paying your rent
If your rent has increased or finding it hard to stay on top of payments, it’s important to get advice as early as possible. If you're late with your rent or miss a payment your landlord may evict you.
Rent arrears in your Housing Executive or housing association home
Get help if you've fallen behind on rent or you think you might miss a payment. The sooner you get advice, the more willing your landlord will be consider a plan for repaying arrears.
Changes to notice to quit periods in Northern Ireland
You, and your landlord, have to give a certain amount of advance notice in writing if either of you want to end the tenancy. These notice periods changed in May 2022
Help to pay the bedroom tax
You should get an extra payment if you get less help to pay your rent because of the bedroom tax. Some people lost these payments because they moved home. If this happened to you, your payment could start again in the next few weeks
Having a problem in your rented home?
You can get help to sort out problems between you and your landlord if you are a private tenant. The Housing Mediation Service is a free service. We can speak to your landlord or agent if you are having a problem. We will help both of you work to an agreement.
